Henry Asante Twum, Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has discussed the recent comments made by Executive Council members George Amoako and Dr. Randy Abbey regarding the performance of Black Stars Manager Chris Hughton.
Twum insists that both Amoako and Abbey were expressing their personal views and not speaking in any capacity as members of the country’s football governing body.
The two football gurus in separate interviews had expressed their dissatisfaction with the former Brighton coach’s performance since his appointment in March.
The Black Stars have recorded one win and two draws in their last three matches under Hughton’s charge, leading to a thorough scrutiny and critique of his work so far.
Asante in attempt to clarify the situation, stressed that the views expressed by George Amoako and Dr. Randy Abbey were their personal thoughts and had absolutely nothing to do with the Ghana Football Association.
“Let’s not only focus on the role they occupy. These are respected people [George Amoako and Dr Randy Abbey] in our football industry but regardless of being Executive Council members,” he told Guide Radio.
“They have got every right to express their views when they think things are not going well and so for me let’s see it as two individuals putting their opinions across rather than positioning them as people who are speaking on behalf of the FA.”
