Ghana will face the United States on American soil for the first time as they meet in a friendly at GEODIS Park in Nashville on Tuesday night.
Over the weekend, the USA suffered a 3-1 loss to Germany, while the Black Stars endured a 2-0 defeat against Mexico.
Match preview:
The USA had a prime opportunity to secure a victory against one of the most successful footballing nations but missed their chance against Germany. This was the second time this year that the Americans lost a fixture in which they scored first (2-1 loss to Serbia). It was the first defeat under Gregg Berhalter’s current stint as national team manager.
The US national team has scored in their last 13 matches played in the United States and netted three or more times in six of those encounters. Before the 2014 World Cup group stage, the Ghanaians had a perfect record of 4-0 against the US but have lost the last two meetings against them.
Ghana began the international window with a disappointing performance against Mexico, failing to register a single shot on target. Their defeat versus Mexico was the first time they lost since Chris Hughton became the new manager in February 2023.
The Black Stars have come back to claim a win or draw in their two previous matches in which they had conceded first and won their last four contests after scoring in the opening half.
