Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has called on his players to rise to the challenge of representing Ghana on the world stage, urging them to embrace their responsibility and strive to leave a lasting mark in the nation’s football history.
Speaking during a motivational session with the squad, the experienced tactician reflected on Ghana’s rich World Cup heritage and encouraged the players to remain focused as they prepare for the global tournament.
“Okay, guys, this was only a warm-up. It was only to emphasise the history of the Ghanaian World Cup. Next game quiz, it will be tough,” he said.
Queiroz stressed the importance of commitment and dedication, reminding the players that every training session and match is a step towards achieving something special for the country.
“So now, we are here together to make history for Ghana. So, remember our responsibility,” Queiroz said.
The Portuguese coach also highlighted the impact the players have on young football fans across Ghana, urging them to be mindful of the example they set.
“When kids in Ghana start to put on a shirt with your number, it’s a great responsibility for you when you sleep tonight. Think about that,” he said.
Drawing inspiration from the achievements of previous generations, Queiroz encouraged the current squad to honour the legacy of those who came before them while creating a story of their own.
“These guys that they build this history behind us, it’s just a message to us. We have the opportunity in the next World Cup, other guys, they also talk about you,” he added.
As he concluded his address, the former Real Madrid and Portugal coach challenged the players to remain disciplined and determined in pursuit of success.
“Let’s put our names, your names, your efforts in the history of Ghana. Alright? Let’s go to sleep,” he said.
