GPL week 12 report: Hearts held at home, Kotoko bow to WA All Stars


Hearts of Oak failed to consolidate their position on the league table after fighting back to settle for 1-1 draw against debutant Elimina Sharks in the 12 week of the Ghana premier at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Phobians were fired up going into the encounter but their hopes were dashed in the 59th when Joseph Mensah rose above Hearts defenders to fetch the opener for the debutants.

Hearts of Oak intensity throughout the proceedings paid off three minutes later after midfielder Winful Cobbinah scored a sublime free kick to cancel Joseph Mensah’s 59th strike.

Frank Nuttah made couple of substitutions to search for the winner but Elimina outfit stood resolute as they neutralized Hearts’ attack to earn a convincing point at the capital.

Kotoko Asante Kotoko worries continue as they were stunned 1-0 at the Malik Jabil Park.

The Porcupine warriors were hoping to turn the stakes round after the exist of  Zdrako Lugarusic but it was not to be as Kwaku Asundzie 30th strike rekindle the wounds.

Kotoko lifted their play and as early as 49th minutes, it paid off but Abeiku Ainsoon stood and misplaced the spot kick.

The result means Kotoko have gone four games without a win.
