Former Ghana international Nii Odartey Lamptey has commended Black Stars head Coach Kwesi Appiah for his selection of players for Ghana’s 2018 World Cup qualifier with Congo.
Appiah 57, on Wednesday announced a 24-man squad for the two legged tie.
The squad includes two new players, Dutch- born Ghanaian forward Edwin Gyasi and WAFA star boy Gideon Waja.
”He knows why he has excluded old players like Wakaso, Agyemang Badu and others, let us be patient with him because the team needs to grow in terms of talent,” Said the former Aston Villa player Odartey Lamptey
He added “Kwasi Appiah is building a broad squad and I would like to commend him for that, our National team needs this, he knows what he is doing and that is why he dropped some of the old key players”.
The Black Stars will commence camping on Monday August 28 where they will move to Kumasi later in the week to prepare for the crunch 2018 World Cup qualifier against Congo.
The game will be played at the Baba Yara sports stadium on Friday, September 1 before travelling to Congo Brazzaville five days later for the reverse leg.
