Hearts of Oak petition FIFA over alleged illegal approach for Hamza Issah by Siwelele FC

Accra giants Hearts of Oak have officially escalated matters to FIFA, filing a complaint against South African side Siwelele FC over what they describe as an improper approach for midfielder Hamza Issah.

According to Hearts, the South African club is alleged to have made direct contact with the player, invited him over, and even arranged travel logistics without informing or seeking approval from his parent club, despite Issah being tied to a valid contract. The Phobians argue that such actions amount to inducement and an unlawful disruption of an existing contractual agreement, contrary to FIFA regulations.

The club’s move comes amid widespread media reports linking Issah with a potential switch to South Africa—claims Hearts insist are unfounded and premature. They stressed that no recognized judicial or regulatory authority, including the Ghana Football Association or FIFA, has ruled that the player’s contract has been legally terminated.

Hearts also revisited the events of December, when Issah’s representatives threatened to end the contract over alleged salary arrears spanning three months. While rejecting claims of any serious or ongoing breach, the club acknowledged holding multiple meetings with the player and his camp, emphasizing that discussions were conducted in good faith to resolve all concerns.

On the pitch, Issah has been a useful contributor this season, scoring four goals in 20 league outings—a form that perhaps explains the growing interest in his services.
