Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has praised Al Ahly’s number one Mohamed El-Shennawy following their clash on Monday.
Al Ahly came up against European champions Bayern Munich in the semi-finals of the Club World Cup after beating Al-Duhail 1-0 in the first round.
Despite a spirited performance, the Cairo giants fell to a 2-0 defeat, with Robert Lewandowski, scoring a goal each half.
One of Al Ahly’s standout performers during the game was their goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy, who if it wasn’t for his efforts, Bayern could have had scored more.
And El-Shennawy’s performance didn’t go unnoticed by Manuel Neuer, who believes the Egyptian has a bright future ahead of him.
“We are very excited to face Tigres UANL in the final, and we will do our best in order to win the title and achieve the sextuple,” Neuer said.
“Mohamed El-Shennawy has a lot of experience, and he is a known goalkeeper in Africa.
“I have watched him in many games before, and he is an outstanding goalkeeper and has a bright future,” he added.
Al Ahly will now face Copa Libertadores champions Palmeiras in the third-place encounter on Thursday, February 11.
Meanwhile, Bayern will face CONCACAF champions Tigres UANL in the Club World Cup final later on the same day.
