Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang says Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City tried to sign him in the latest transfer window.
He added that his father, who also acts as his agent, held initial talks with the Premier League giants.
Aubameyang was linked with a move away from the Bundesliga club with a move to Real Madrid Arsenal and the likes, but ultimately decided to stay.
“It’s true, there was contact. My father held talks with the club, but in the end there was nothing concrete,” Aubameyang told Onze.
The 27-year-old also took the opportunity to explain comments he made earlier this year, about wanting to play for Real Madrid.
“I think there was interest (from Real Madrid), but it was more distant so I didn’t get too carried away,” he added.
“I was asked in an interview: ‘What is the club of your dreams?’ I replied: ‘Real is the club of my heart and I made a promise to my grandfather to play there one day, I hope it will happen.’
“So it’s just a target, I still have time. If they want me, they will come.”
