The Black Stars B wrapped up preparations ahead of the 2018 CHAN qualifying campaign first leg against Burkina Faso with a 3-1 defeat to Godwin Attram’s de Visser Academy on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Despite losing for the very first time since the team commenced camping three months ago ahead of the double header qualification tie, head Coach of the side Maxwell Konadu says he’s impressed with his charges performance adding the defeat is a wakeup call for the team going into this weekend’s crucial clash.
The team had gone 10 matches unbeaten prior to Monday’s defeat to the Academy boys.
Konadu speaking to reporters after the game said “It was good exercise, this is the first time we have been beaten and for me it serves as a wakeup call even though we didn’t start with the best of our available players.
“But we had to give other players the opportunity to see what they have got, so now have a clearer idea of who is making the trip. So it is very good for us,”
The team leaves Accra for Ouagadougou on Wednesday where they will face the Burkinabes on August 11.
The return fixture will be played a week later at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
The winner of the Ghana-Burkina tie secures qualification to the 2018 Chan tournament which will be hosted by Kenya.
