The minister of youth and sports Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah has revealed that the Government of Ghana spent over $4.5 Million in funding the Black Stars disastrous AFCON campaign in Egypt.
The sector minister made the shocking disclosure when he presented the Budget estimates of the tournament to the Parliament of Ghana on Wednesday.
Among the expenditure penciled down by the minister were the payment of winning bonuses to the Players and the technical staff, acquisition of Travel visas, feeding for the contingent, external travels, and per diems.
According to the minister, government approved a total budget of $6.3 million for the whole tournament which included the pre tournament camping in Dubai, and the main competition.
He further stated that the Normalization committee of the GFA has been tasked to present a comprehensive report on the team for subsequent advice of the ministry.
