The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have stated they brought forward their resolution on the Africa Cup of Nations 2019 hosts to be announced on Tuesday, January 7 instead of Wednesday, January 8.
CAF had officially stripped Cameroon off their hosting rights for the Africa Cup of Nations, which will be played in June 2019, back in November after they failed to fulfill the necessary organizational requirements.
Egypt, through the Egyptian Football Association, submitted a bid to host Africa Cup of Nations 2019 via an official letter sent to CAF. Egypt’s proposal competes with South Africa after Morocco surprisingly withdrew their bid.
CAF released a statement saying that the Executive Committee will summon on Tuesday instead of Wednesday to decide on the AFCON 2019 hosts, with an announcement set to follow.
The meeting will take place few hours before CAF ceremony for Africa Player of the Year which Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang compete for.
