Chesterfield boss James Rowe says Dutch-born Ghanaian striker Akwasi Asante has started training.
The mercurial forward who banged in 12 goals last season got injured before the campaign ended and his manager has hinted that he is recovering well.
“He (Asante) has just had a week at St George’s Park which went really well, they said he is slightly ahead of where he should be, which is really good but we can’t get ahead of ourselves too much and expect too much from him too early,” Rowe told derbyshire times.
“He is on track to be back at the back end of this year and the start of next year.”
Asante is expected to feature in the league in October
