The Division One League entered week two and Venomous Vipers hosted Kumasi-based club Asokwa Deportivo SC for a much anticipated clash between the two teams.
The visitors, Asokwa Deportivo SC were the better side right from the blast of the referee’s whistle and dominated the game with some scintillating and eye-catching display on the day against the Yellow and Blacks team.
The away team struck first through Gordon Kusi Brokelyn on the 16th minutes with a powerful strike to make it 1-0 to the Deportivo who were dictating the pace of the match.
Midfielder, Joseph Gordon was a delight to watch throughout the opening half as he controlled the middle of the field to free his colleagues and gave them the opportunity to attack their opponents at any given chance.
Striker, Raymond Owusu Frimpong got two good chances in the first half to double the lead for his side but fluffed his lines and wasted all the good opportunities he had as the first half ended 1-0 to the visitors.
In the opening exchanges of the second half, Vipers lifted their performance and started causing problems on the attack but were also unable to make good use of their few chances.
Deportivo, after some minutes played in the second half upped their game but their forward, Owusu Frimpong was having a bad day at the office as he missed all the good openings that came his way after the break.
The host equalized after 70 minutes of action to make it one all to set up a grand style ending to the end-to-end and frenetic encounter at the Robert Mensah Stadium.
Both teams were presented with chances but the visitors got the clear cut opportunities to still all three points but failed to capitalize on their chances in the game.
14 minutes to full time, Kusi Brokelyn, who scored his second goal of the season for Deportivo SC was shown the second yellow card and his team had to play with 10-men for the remaining minutes.
The game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes and four additional minutes as both teams settled for a point each.
