Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has admitted Leicester City were “not good enough” as he prepares for what is likely to be his final game for the club against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, 2nd May, 2026.
Fatawu is the second City player to address relegation on social media, after goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, the winger describing the season as “disappointing”.
While he said the club will “come back stronger to where it belongs”, he is very unlikely to play a part in their hoped-for revival.
The Ghanaian is City’s most valuable asset and will need to be sold this summer to help the club cope with the significant drop in revenue that comes with being in League One.

Fatawu attracted Premier League interest last summer, most notably from Sunderland. That interest is expected to still be present, given Fatawu’s talent and age, albeit City may not get the £35m fee that was mooted a year ago.
Writing on Instagram, Fatawu said: “Appreciate all the support from the beginning of the season till today, Foxes. Is disappointing to finish the season at this level. In all, this was not what we work for and overall was not good enough.
“Our club is amazing and deserved more than the position we are today and I believe this club will come back stronger to where it belongs.”
Fatawu leads the club for goal involvements this season, scoring nine and setting up seven. However, those have dried up since Gary Rowett took charge.
He has just one goal involvement in 12 games under Rowett, his finish in the win over Bristol City, following a run of 15 goal involvements in 32 matches prior to the current boss’s arrival.
