Even in adversity , FIFA flexes its financial muscles.
The soccer body is doling out $1, 500, 000 grant for each of the 211 members associations as Covid-19 alleviation mechanism. That is is not all. Members also have the opportunity to apply for interest-free loans from the world governing body of Association football.
“The work that FIFA has been doing over the past four years under the giidance and supervision of the FIFA Council hs ensured that the organization is in a very strong financial position, which has enabled a considerable financial relief plan to be put in place” FIFA said in their Covid-19 Relief Plan document.
This strong financial position of FIFA – which is not profit organization – also reveals the hard work the body has put in place to restore its bruised reputation following the corruption scandal of May 2015. In October that year four major FIFA sponsors, Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, Visa and Budweiser, called for Blatter to stand down immediately as FIFA president.
Blatter out, Infantino in and FIFA has looked just good if not better especially in terms of the money and in this time of crisis, with what the body is doing for their members, you have the prove .
