1. RTU faces Tano Bofoakwa in a relegation six-pointer
Real Tamale United and Tano Bofoakwa are in trouble. Nothing seems to work now for them on the pitch as the two teams have struggled for a long time.
They are both placed in the relegation zone with RTU occupying the 18th position while Bofoakwa is just a place above their opponent’s RTU.
Issues both on and off the pitch have beset the two teams since the commencement of the season. Whoever wins this fixture at Abrankese will move further up the table.
RTU has lost 6 in their last 7 games and won just one. Bofoakwa Tano has drawn 2 and lost 5 in their last 7 GPL games. This is how terrible the teams are. They face on Monday and fight for an important 3 points.
2. Will Samartex make it 9 over 9 at home?
Life at the Nsenkyire Park has been so comfortable and refreshing for Samartex. With 8 wins in 8 home games, who will stop Nurudeen Amadu’s in-form Samartex? Asante Kotoko won 1-0 on Friday against Gold Stars to close the gap to 3 points. Samrtex has to beat Nations FC to open the points gap once again.
Emmanue Keywkeh has been excellent as his experience is driving Samartex’s midfield to the promised land. Nations FC has a huge task on Sunday after being out for a long time without playing active football. Nsenkyire Sports Arena is the venue on Sunday in Samaraboi as the host prepares to welcome another deadly side in Nations FC.
3. Can Hearts of Oak and their abysmal performance outside Accra?
Phobia has struggled to put up a show outside Accra. The last win for Hearts of Oak outside Accra was a 1-0 win against Medeama in Tarkwa at the Akoon Park.
In the last 19 Premier League away games, Hearts has won only once against Accra Lions and it was won in Accra. This has been Phobia’s major problem.
With Abubakar Ouattara starting his reign with an emphatic 3-0 win over RTU, expectations are high on the team in their trip to Nsoatre even though they are facing a very difficult task.
Hamza Issah continued his fine form on Sunday with a brace and hence the supporters will expect him to deliver against Nsoatreman. It will be a tricky game for Phobia to end their unwanted away run.
4. This is where Abubakari Damba needs the results
Winning at home in Ghana Premier League is difficult but it is not as difficult as winning away. That is the task Karela United’s new coach Abubakari Damba will be facing now. With 2 wins at home against Asante Kotoko and Legon Cities, Damba’s first away game is a trip to Berekum to face the out-of-form Berekum Chelsea.
The Berekum club has not won in their last 3 games. They are out of the FA Cup and have lost their last 2 Premier League games. It is a must-win for Chelsea as they welcome Karela United who also needs the points in their battle for survival. Damba is charged with preventing Karela from relegation and the away games will play a crucial role in his survival.
5. Heart of the Lions’ away woes must be solved by Bashir Hayford
Bashir Hayford has a massive assignment concerning Heart of Lion’s away performance. They are one of the worst away teams as they are yet to record a single victory away from home.
Bashir Hayford has worked wonders after taking over from Fatawu Salifu by winning 3 games including victories over Medeama and Asante Kotoko.
The real job starts here as Heart of Lions are down due to their abysmal away performance. They have been horrible and need to start winning points from away to help their fight for survival. A trip against Great Olympics is a tough one for Bashir Hayford but they can do it.
