Medeama SC moved to the third spot on the table in the ongoing 2020-21 Ghana Premier League campaign with a slim win over regional rivals Karela United FC.
The week 28 fixture between the two teams was full of fireworks from the beginning of the referee’s whistle and throughout the match.
The first half was fairly balanced as both teams settled in well early and exhibited a good football on display at the Tarkwa Akoon Park on Saturday afternoon.
Both sides played really well in the opening exchanges of the match but the first half was without a goal as it ended goalless at the break.
The home stepped up on the paddle a little bit in the second half and started dominating play by creating good goal scoring opportunities.
Karela United shot stopper on loan from Accra Hearts of Oak, Richard Baidoo was in a dazzling form for the Pride and Passion side throughout the and pulled up some great saves in the second half.
10 minutes to full time, former Hearts of Oak SC defender, Vincent Atinga followed up a cross inside the box to power home the winner with a header after Baidoo’s punch from a cross came in his path.
Atinga’s goal was the only goal of the match and secured a vital win for underfire coach Yaw Preko as the Yellow and Mauves moves second on the league table.
