President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt E.S Okraku, has lauded Dreams FC for their groundbreaking achievement in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Despite experiencing a 2-1 defeat against Rivers United in Nigeria, Dreams FC secured a spot in the quarter-finals, courtesy of a dramatic turn of events in the group stage.
Heading into the decisive match as the group leader with 12 points, Dreams FC aimed to etch their name in history. However, their aspirations were momentarily dampened when they conceded a late goal against Rivers United.
Yet, fate smiled upon them as a 1-1 draw between Academia and Club Africain in Tunisia paved the way for Dreams FC’s progression.
Abdul Aziz Issah, the teenage sensation, played a pivotal role by netting the crucial away goal for Dreams FC in the 40th minute, providing them with a 1-0 lead.
Despite Rivers United’s relentless pursuit of an equalizer and more goals, Dreams FC’s resilient defence thwarted their efforts until a late winner for the hosts in stoppage time.
Taking to social media, GFA President and Dreams FC owner, Kurt E.S Okraku, expressed his jubilation and congratulated the team for their remarkable achievement. He urged them to strive for greater heights, emphasizing that their journey is still a dream come true.
“It’s still a dream!!! OMG !! Congratulations Coach Zito, congratulations boys, and congratulations management…..! But it’s still a DREAM!!!!” he wrote on Facebook.
Dreams FC’s progression to the quarter-finals marks a significant milestone for the Ghanaian FA Cup champions in their inaugural appearance in the continental tournament.
