French Tabloid L’Équipe reports that Lyon had not been made aware of new signing Jérôme Boateng’s domestic violence charges before the German defender’s arrival this summer.
The former Bayern Munich man was yesterday sentenced in a Munich court to pay his ex-girlfriend €1.8m in damages, after being found guilty on charges of assault during a 2018 holiday in the Caribbean.
His failed transfer to Paris Saint-Germain that summer had reportedly been a recurrent topic of violent exchanges, with his then-partner unwilling to leave Munich.
The centre-back had not told Les Gones about the legal proceedings before signing his contract with the club. It remains to be seen whether the club will take any action of its own, and if the player will feature on Sunday against Strasbourg.
