Ghana international Jerome Opoku has emerged as one of the country’s most promising defenders in recent years. Known for his composure on the ball, physical presence and versatility across the backline, Opoku’s journey from England’s lower divisions to the Black Stars and European football is a testament to perseverance and steady development.

Age and Early Life

Jerome Opoku was born on August 29, 1998, in London, England. Raised by Ghanaian parents, he grew up in a family deeply connected to their Ghanaian roots while pursuing his football dreams in England.

His early football education came through grassroots football before he joined the youth ranks of Fulham FC, where he developed as a defender.

Although born in England, Opoku remained eligible to represent Ghana through his parents and would later commit his international future to the West African nation.

Standing at approximately 1.95 metres (6 feet 5 inches), Opoku possesses an imposing physical presence that makes him a formidable defender in aerial duels and one-on-one situations.

He is primarily a centre-back but is also comfortable playing as a left-sided defender in a back three. His strengths include:
