Ghanaian midfielder Kamaldeen Sowah says although his team OH Leuven is ‘working hard as a unit’, they are not complete without the fans present at the stadium.
The lack of fans is undoubtedly affecting the game a lot as players adjust to empty stadiums as a result of strict coronavirus measures.
The Ghanaian international enjoyed the full 90 minutes of action in his side’s 1-1 draw against former Jupiler Pro League champions KRC Genk.
The newly-promoted side picked a last-minute draw after Thomas Henry pulled parity in the 85th minute.
Junya Ito struck in the 55th minute to give Genk the lead.
Kamal who played a pivotal role in midfield for OH Leuven in their away draw believes the fans’ absence one way or the other affects the team’s play on the pitch and says he can’t wait to see them back in the stadium.
“I’m happy we secure a point over the weekend after fighting from behind against Genk. Could have taken all 3 points but some decisions didn’t go our way, but that’s football!,” he posted on Social Media after the game.
“Our team is working hard as a unit, but we are not complete without the fans. Appreciate all the distant support for now, and can’t wait to see you back in the stadium once it is safe. On to the next!” he added.
Sowah, a player-owned by English Premier League side Leicester City, missed the opening day draw against KAS Eupen.
