Ghana’s Deputy Health Minister Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye has revealed that, he stopped supporting Asante Kotoko in 2004 after the club painfully lost the Caf Confederations Cup finals to rivals Accra Hearts of Oak.
According to the Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku, he was broken-hearted and decided not to withdraw his support for the club.
“I was a staunch supporter of Asante Kotoko but after that painful defeat to sworn rivals Hearts of Oak in the Caf Confederations Cup finals in 2004 I decided to retire my support for the club and abscond to Accra Hearts Oak” he told Adam Adjei on Kasapa FM’s Dwidwamu Sports Night.
The Phobians beat Asante Kotoko fifteen years ago 8-9 after a marathon penalty shootout to win the 2004 CAF Confederation Cup final on Sunday 9th January, 2005 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi.
