Asante Kotoko will begin their 2019/20 CAF Champions League campaign away to Nigerian side, Kano Pillars on the weekend of August 9-11.
This follows the draw today by the African football governing body in Cairo Egypt. The Porcupines will welcome their Nigerian opponent to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi two weeks later.
Kano Pillars was founded in 1990 but they are one of Nigeria’s top teams in Nigeria. They will be making their six appearance in the CAF inter club competition with their best outing being in 2009 where they reached the semi-final stage by beating Egyptian giants, Al Ahly.
Kotoko’s last appearance in the Champions League was in 2015. The Porcupines were eliminated in the first-round by Algerian side MC El Eulma.
The winner of the two-legged match will progress to the final round to play either Hafia FC of Guinea or Tunisian club, Etoile du Sahel.
