Ghanaian youngster, Kwadwo Opoku started the 2021 MLS campaign on a brighter note as he provided an assist in Los Angeles FC home win over newly-promoted side Austin FC.

The 19-year-old Ghanaian versatile forward came on after 22 minutes to replace talisman, Carlos Vela from Mexico due to injury after 22 minutes of action.

After a 0-0 first half, Corey Baird scored the opener from outside the box into the bottom left corner with a neat and excellent finish to put the hosts 1-0 following a nicely set up pass from Danny Musovski just after the hour mark.

With 90 minutes done and heading into added-on time, Opoku pressed the defense of Austin hard and won the ball just outside the box and selflessly assisted José Cifuentes inside the box to put the ball into an empty net to make it 2-0 to hand LAFC a nice start to the season.

After moving to Los Angeles FC late in 2020, the Ghanaian played six games in total with four coming in the Major League Soccer where he provided one assist and scored one goal in his two CONCACAF Champions League appearances.

Despite not starting the game and playing 78 minutes, Opoku chalked some amazing stats in the home game.

Check the stats below as published by football Wonderkids:
