Ghanaian midfielder Majeed Ashimeru made his first appearance in the UEFA Champions League this season for Red Bull Salzburg in their 2-3 away defeat to Spanish side Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old former WAFA star was introduced into the game in the second half to replace Zlatko Junuzovic in the 63rd minute.
The Austrian champions suffered a 2-3 loss to Atletico Madrid in matchday 2 of the competition at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.
Marcos Llorente opened scoring for Diego Simeone’s side in the 29th minute but Dominik Szoboszlai pulled parity for the Austrian giants in the 40th-minute mark.
In the 47th minute, Felipe scored an own goal to give Salzburg a 2-1 lead before the lead was canceled by Joao Felix in the 52nd minute.
With the match tied at 2-2 in the 85th minute, Joao Felix struck again to secure all three points for Atletico Madrid.
The defeat means that Red Bull Salzburg have managed just a single point out of a possible six having drawn at home on matchday 1 against Lokomotive Moscow.
