Newly promoted German Bundesliga side SpVgg Greuther furth have handed a three-year contract extension to German-born Ghanaian attacking midfielder Jamie Leweling ahead of the 2021-22 football season.
The talented player who rose through the youth ranks of the Cloverleaves has been in top form since he was drafted into the mainstream side of the German outfit last term.
Despite being chased by many top clubs in Europe, his current employers have offered him a long-term deal to stay at the club.
The 20-year-old after signing the new deal, expressed his happiness, promising to do his best for the club
“With my promotion to the Bundesliga, a childhood dream has come true and I’m already looking forward to the season. This contract extension is a great sign of confidence from those in charge and I will do everything I can to repay it,” Leweling told the club’s official website.
Sporting director Rachid Azzouzi spoke on the need to keep the promising youngster at their side as they want to ensure his steadily progress over his development as a rising star.
“Jamie has great potential and we want to develop that together with him. He set the bar very high himself in his first year and yet it is clear that the development of a young player is not always steep goes upstairs,” Azzouzi said to the same club’s forum.
Meanwhile, Greuther Furth earlier this week completed the signing of his county man Gideon Jung in this summer transfer window.
Jamie Leweling turned down an invite from Ghana to play in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan last year.
He went ahead to feature for the German U21 side after rejecting the Black Stars debut call-ups.
