Accra Great Olympics maestro, Gladson Awako has joined the senior national team of Ghana for their trip to Morocco on Sunday night.
The talismanic leader of the DADE Boys linked up with the Black Stars as they departed for Morocco for the Tuesday’s international friendly against the Atlas Lions.
Awako captained his team in the Ga-Mantse derby against City rivals Accra Hearts of Oak in a highly competitive and contested game, full of action in a top of the league table clash.
The game was full of excitement and fireworks though Awako did not play to his own standard set this season in the domestic league but nonetheless steered his team to a 1-1 stalemate after going behind.
Awako made his senior appearance for Ghana in over 10 years after winning the FIFA U20 world cup in 2009 in an AFCON qualifiers games against Sao Tome and Principe.
The dynamic midfielder would be hoping for more playing time in Ghana’s friendly against Morocco tomorrow in the absence of Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey who was sacked by head coach CK Akonnor for reporting late at camp without permission.
