Ex-Ghana Coach Otto Addo Set to Begin World Cup Role with FIFA Technical Study Group. Former Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is preparing to begin a new chapter on the global stage after being named to FIFA’s Technical Study Group (TSG) for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
FIFA recently confirmed the composition of the Technical Study Group, which will operate under the leadership of legendary French manager Arsène Wenger. The team will be responsible for providing tactical analysis, performance data, and technical insights throughout the tournament, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Although Addo will not be attending the World Cup as a coach, the former Ghana international will still play an important role at football’s biggest event. His appointment recognizes the wealth of experience he has gained both as a player and coach at the highest level of the game.
The former Borussia Dortmund talent coach and ex-Black Stars trainer will contribute to FIFA’s technical reports and analysis, helping to identify emerging trends and tactical innovations from the expanded 48-team tournament.
Addo’s inclusion comes despite his recent departure from the Ghana national team setup. While his coaching stint with the Black Stars has come to an end, the 51-year-old remains highly respected within international football circles and will now represent Ghana in a different capacity on the world stage.
His appointment is yet another testament to the growing influence of Ghanaian football expertise globally, with Addo set to share his knowledge alongside some of the game’s most respected minds during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
