League leaders Karela United will welcome Kumasi Asante Kotoko to the Crosby Awuah Park in Ainyinase on Sunday in a Ghana Premier League game.
The crunch encounter which is easily the pick of the Week 13 games promises lots of action with just two points separating the two clubs.
Karela FC are really having a great season after escaping relegation last season after the league was canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The management have turned things around within few months and they are currently the best and most composed team in the Ghanaian topflight this season.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko also did not start this season well which led to the sacking of then coach Maxwell Konadu but they are gradually finding their rhythm and are capable of beating any team on any day.
Games between the two clubs has always been keenly contested and out of their three meetings each side has won once though Karela has score netted the highest number if goals with the 3-1 win over the Porcupine Warriors being the stand out encounter.
Kotoko are currently being coached by former Karela United boss Johnson Smith and this could work magic for the Porcupine Warriors. Smith knows the Karela team so well and may have the antidote to their home invincibility.
The game will be centred in midfield and Karela United enforcer Bashiru Umar who was sacked from Kotoko for poor performance will be hoping to prove a point in the heart of midfield. He has won three man of the match awards so far this season with all coming in tough games.
It will also be interesting to see how leading scorer Diawusie Taylor will fare against his former team mate Ismail Ganiu who has been solid since returning from injury.
Two players on the part of Kotoko who could decide the game are Brazilian import Fabio Gama and the deadly Kwame Poku, on any day. The duo can hand Kotoko the needed win.
The game will no doubt be very competitive but the side which will be prolific upfront stands the chance of carrting the day.
