The Black Stars of Ghana drew their opening World Cup qualifier against a well drilled Ugandan side in Tamale on Friday afternoon.
Coach Avram Grant’s side were hoping to beat the Cranes for the first time after failing to pick victory against them in their last two meetings but at the end the story remained same as Serbian trainer Milutin Micho Sredojevic and his charges gave the Black Stars a very tough game.
Ghana could have opened scoring in the 30th minute but striker Jordan Ayew wasted a glorious opportunity that came his way after blasting away an excellent cross from Christian Atsu from the right side of attack.
Atsu who was only brilliant in the first half also came close finding target but his superb shot went straight into the back of the net.
At the end Ghana’s chase for a win against Uganda could not come to an end as none of the two teams got the bragging rights at the Tamale Stadium.
Ghana next qualifying match will be in away against Egypt in Cairo.
