Mohammed Salisu played all minutes as Southampton were knocked out of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night by Chelsea.
The Saints suffered a 4-3 loss on penalties at the Stamford Bridge having held the Blues to a 1-1 scoreline in 90 minutes.
The Ghanaian defender was named in the starting lineup by manager Ralph Hasenhuttl for Tuesday’s game.
Chelsea took the lead on the brink of half-time with Kai Havertz turning into the net a cross from Hakim Ziyech.
But Che Adams leveled things for Southampton after recess, holding off the challenge from Chelsea to go into penalties.
The London side came out on top in the shootout, winning 4-3 to secure qualification into the next round of the competition.
