Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have returned to full training today for the first time in almost seven months ahead of the start of the 2020/21 football season.
Surprisingly, the Ghanaian giants failed to adhere to Covid-19 protocols as not a single player or technical staff put on a face mask upon arrival at the team’s training center – Adako Jachie on Wednesday 30th September, 2020.
The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his 17th Address to the Nation on the update of the COVID-19 pandemic, lifted the ban on contact sports, giving clearance for the resumption of competitive football activities in Ghana.
The clubs, however, have be charged to strictly adhere to all covid-19 protocols.
But SPORTS SPORT GHANA can also report that there were no buckets for washing of hands by any person who arrived at Adako Jachie for the club’s first training in almost seven months.
Additionally, sanitizers were not seen at the training center for the team to use as players who arrived walked straight on the pitch to start training with the club’s day one training starting amidst bushy surroundings.
Football activities in Ghana have been on suspension since March 16, 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, leading to the cancellation of the 2019/2020 season.
Meanwhile, The Ghana Football Association has set between November 13- 16 as date for the start of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season.
Kotoko will represent Ghana in next season’s Caf Champions League.
