Ghana striker Sadat Karim scored the only goal for Halmstads Bollklubb in their 1-0 league win over Jönköping on Tuesday.
After a scoreless first halftime, HBK could finally get the winner against Jönköping through the former Hearts of Oak striker.
The Ghanaian international stepped forward with five minutes left on the clock to end the game and grab the match winner for HBK.
HBK started the game with a lot of ball possession, and Gabriel Gudmundsson showed the feet with smart offensive runs. Eventually, the home team got more and more in the match and got a danger after about 15 minutes of play on the counter, but the ball was first cleared by HBK defender and finally Malkolm Nilsson got in the goal hold of the ball
After 20 minutes of play, the referee blew a penalty to HBK, after a fine offensive finish signed Andreas Bengtsson. But Jönköping’s goalkeeper, Frank Pettersson, made an important save on Pontus Silfwer’s penalty to deny HBK the lead.
With about half an hour played, Gudmundsson got the chance, after a fine collaboration with Erik Ahlstrand who really showed off his feet, but the ball went to the post. Five minutes later, Ahlstrand got a nice shot, which the home team’s goalkeeper had to do a good save on.
Just before the break, Joel Allansson was able to steal the ball, pass on to Gudmundsson and finally Sadat Karim could shoot the ball but the goalkeeper made another impressive save to rescue his team from conceding.
The second half started with a lot of fighting, and HBK got 20 minutes into another post meeting, this time through Emil Tot Wikström.
The same Wikström received ten minutes later a nice post to Karim, but Pettersson made another good save, and was also named J-Södra’s best player.
Compatriot Thomas Boakye finally climbed off the bench to add more power to Halmstads Bollklubb and their efforts finally paid off when Sadat Karim slotted in a belter pass from Jesper Westerberg to seal victory for his side.
