Seventeen-year-old Swedish-born Ghanaian talent Jonah Kusi-Asare has taken a significant step in his football journey by making his first-team debut for Bayern Munich.
The young forward came on as a substitute for Joshua Kimmich in the 63rd minute during Bayern’s dominant 6-0 victory over Austrian side RB Salzburg in an international club friendly, showcasing his readiness for top-tier football.
Kusi-Asare joined Bayern Munich from Swedish club AIK Solna, where his potential attracted scouts from across Europe. Since signing a long-term contract with the German champions in February 2024, he has quickly adapted to the club’s system.
Earlier this season, Kusi-Asare was on the verge of making his Bundesliga debut, having been named on the bench for Bayern’s Matchday 13 clash against Heidenheim.
At the international level, Kusi-Asare has impressed for Sweden’s youth teams, earning eight caps and scoring five goals. Despite representing Sweden in youth competitions, he remains eligible to play for Ghana, his father’s home country.
Jonah’s father, Jones Kusi-Asare, had a notable professional career, playing in Sweden, Austria, and Denmark, leaving behind a legacy that Jonah is poised to carry forward.
