Head Coach of the Black Stars C.K Akonnor has handed invitations to three players of the victorious Black Satellites squad – referred to as the “Three Wise Boys” – in this piece.

Firstly there is Ibrahim Danlad – the goalkeeper of Asante Kotoko who was adjudged the overall best goalkeeper of the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Mauritania. To be voted the finest goalkeeper of a huge continental tournament like that means Akonnor and technical staff had no choice than to select the talented Danlad.

The second player selected is the right back Philemon Baffuor – a player of Dreams FC and then the biggest of all is the Golden Ball winner of the CAF U20 AFCON –  Fatawu Issahaku of Division One side Steadfast FC.

Ghana will take on South Africa on March 25, before hosting São Tomé and Principe four days later.

As the Asante proverb goes, the children that know how to properly wash their hands dine with elders and so the inclusion of the Three Wise Boys from the Satellites team is indeed a positive step.
