The Confederations of African Football (CAF) has declined a plea by the Zimbabwe Football Association to have supporters at the Stadium for their world cup qualifying game against Ghana on October 12.
The home side were hoping to have fans at the national stadium to cheer the Warriors to victory but their request has been turned down by Africa’s football ruling body as the edifice does not meet the current requireents.
“Our request to have supporters at the National Sports Stadium during the Warriors’ FIFA World Cup 2022ᵀᴹ qualifier vs Ghana on 12 October was rejected by CAF. CAF said our stadium needs to be upgraded to meet required medical, safety & security standards.” An official statement from the Zimbabwe Football Association on Thursday indicated.
Zimbabwe are last in Group G with one point from two games.
