Indeed Yahaya’s first hat trick for Aduana Stars and the first of his career came on 20 April 2016 in the league fixture Aduana Stars 4 Hasaacas 0 with goalkeeper Michael Abu conceding the goals on a really terrible football afternoon for Yusif Basigi and his Hasaacas boys.
Fast forward to April 2018 and it is another Yahaya hat trick this time the victims were goalkeepers Kwame Baah and Saeed Salifu of Inter Allies with Baah conceding the first two of Yahaya’s treble before being sent off for dissent by Referee Prosper Adii who brandished a second yellow card to Allies’ number 1.
All hail Yahaya.
Adebayor choking at the wrong time…
It was a Yahaya show but what about Victorien Adebayor? Since scoring a fantastic double against Bechem United in his league debut, Adebayor has failed to score in 90 minutes of football against Kotoko, in 45 minutes against Liberty Professionals and 90 minutes against Aduana Stars. Choking at the wrong time.
For a player of his quality – heavily linked with both Aduana and Kotoko before signing for the Tema-based side – it is in games against these powerful teams that he will ultimately be judged.
After Allies defeat at Kotoko in Kumasi, Kenechi needed to make changes to his starting line-up against Liberty and Adebayor was among those affected.
David Tetteh started in Cape Coast against the Scientific Socccer Lads at the left forward position whilst the Nigerien attacker came in as a second half substitute but it was still Joseph Baffour Gyawu’s goals in the 58th and 61st minutes that won the game for Allies.
Against Aduana Stars on the road, former Hearts of Oak trainer Kenichi restored his confidence in Adebayor and named him alongside Fard Ibrahim and Insungusi Effiong in his starting line-up but whilst the final scoreline of 6-0 says a lot about Allies horrible defending it also gives an idea how weak the attack of the team was in Dormaa and once again the highly rated Adebayor failed to impress.
Despite his lack of goals in the last three games Adebayor remains a key player for his side. He and Baffour Gyawu are the Inter Allies’ joint top goalscorers on 2 goals each this season but he has to start getting the goals soon to increase help his team.
