The Bankroller of Division One League side, New Edubiase United – Abdul Sallam Yakubu believes no African country currently, has what it takes to win the prestigious FIFA World Cup.
Speaking in an interview with Ash FM, in an interview, the former Black Starlet management committee member, argued that the development of football in Africa cannot be compared to Europe, South America- which makes Africa’s chances of conquering the world very slim.
“Comparing African coaches to European coaches is non-starter. The Europeans learn a lot with well-equipped infrastructure making them ahead of their counterparts in Africa. Currently, any best African coach got his training from Europe, which strongly back my argument that we’re nowhere near them,’’ He told host Isaac Owusu Ansah.
“Watch their players, especially strikers on the field and see how they’ve mastered the art of goal scoring. They rarely miss goal scoring opportunities unlike African forwards. Our African players are wasteful in front of goal. They do not possess the knowledge required to make goal scoring easy” added Abdul Sallam.
He stated that ‘’until we invest well in our infrastructure to train our players and coaches who can match the level of the European, then we should forget making any impact in FIFA World cup,’’
He therefore, urged African players to be matured in football in their home country before moving out to seek greener pastures.
