The greatest ever Ghanaian goalscorer abroad Anthony Yeboah recorded 32 goals for Leeds United during his stay in English football and among the opponents he scored against the most times are Chelsea FC and AS Monaco of the French Ligue 1.
Throughout his European years playing football he scored massive 120 goals across the Bundesliga and the Premier League a record for any Ghanaian player to have played and still playing in abroad.
If a research is to be conducted on the hardest hitters of the round ball to score a goal I do not hesitate to say that the former Black Stars number 9 will make the top 3. Pele of Brazil and Diego Maradona were naturally gifted footballers who did magic with the ball and scored impossible goals but what they were not blessed with was the unique power to shoot but Yeboah was endowed with that.
Modern stars like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Xabi Alonso,Steven Gerrard, Neymar are all greats shooters who could strike from afar to shake the net but Yeboah hit the ball harder and he did it consistently. The evidence is in the recorded videos of his goals which are on Youtube. A video was released named ‘Yeboah – Shoot to Kill’ while he was at Leeds.
Despite injuries hampering his later days at Leeds United the former Bundesliga icon still scored 24 times in the Premier League and 32 in all competitions for the West Yorkshire side and here are all the opponents to have conceded at least a Tony Yeboah goal most of which were spectacular. The competitions in which the goals were scored are indicated in brackets.
