Captain of the Black Stars of Ghana, Andre Ayew says he is looking forward to being a great addition to Al Sadd squad as outlines his aim of helping the team win trophies.
The former Swansea City talisman joined the Qatari club on Thursday after his deal with the English side expired after the Championship play-offs which they lost to Brentford Football Club.
Speaking during his unveiling, Ayew said: “I’m very happy and proud to be an Al Sadd player. It’s an important moment for me and my family. I’m sure we will win a lot of trophies.
“My goal is to win titles, to make the Al Sadd fans happy, and to strive hard to win the AFC Champions League.”
Ayew revealed that his decision to join Al Sadd was inspired by his father, Abedi Pele, who was represented the club in the early part of his footballing career before making the fame in Europe.
He added: My father had wonderful memories during his time here in the past. He told me a lot about the club and Qatar, and he helped me make the right decision to play for Al Sadd.
Ayew penned a two-year deal with the gulf club which will see him play there until the summer of 2023.
