betPawa has confirmed a strategic shift in its sponsorship arrangement for Ghana Premier League clubs following an agreement with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The betting firm, instead of continuing as the headline sponsor, will now focus on providing direct financial benefits to clubs through increased locker room bonuses. The revised agreement sees a substantial 167% increase in the Locker Room Bonus, elevating it from 150 Ghana Cedis ($12.49) to 450 Ghana Cedis ($33.31).
In addition to this, betPawa will fulfill its commitment to completing the first phase of the betPawa Park, currently under construction at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
This decision comes after betPawa initially signed a three-year contract in August 2022, pledging a total investment of $6 million, with an annual contribution of $2 million dedicated to promoting the league.
The company emphasized its ongoing collaboration with the GFA, assuring the sporting community that betPawa and GFA will continue working together to develop and enhance football standards in the country. The move signifies a redirection of priorities to directly benefit players and contribute to the overall improvement of football in Ghana.
