Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu admits the Black Stars of Ghana have totally failed the country following their inability to win Ghana its fifth AFCON trophy.
The Black Stars have failed to clinch the trophy despite reaching the finals on two occasions that’s 2010 in Angola and Equatorial Guinea 2015.
The current generation despite failing to win Ghana its fifth Nations Cup trophy have appeared at the semi- final stage of the tourney on six consecutive times.
Their inability to put smiles on the faces of the citizenry Ghanaians by winning the country title for almost 35 years have become a worry to several football fans who have thrown their weight behind the team in the last few years.
This Badu admits the Black Stars have failed the country
Speaking in an interview with Accra based Peace FM said ‘’Is been over 34 years we won, and recently we have been making it to the semi-finals, I think if you ask me I will say we have failed the country, not only the country but we have failed ourselves as well,”
“I remember the opportunity many of us got after winning the U20 World Cup, it gave me the chance to play for Udinese.
“It is very disappointing because we have been making it to the semis in the last five or so editions and I will say we have disappointed the country.
“But all hope is not lost, I believe and have confident in this team and I know we will surely win.
“We the players ourselves are disturbed because we have a whatsapp group and we normally talk about this issue.”
Badu was not invited by re-appointed Ghana Coach Kwesi Appiah for the Black Stars 2019 AFCON qualifier opener against Ethiopia at the Baba Yara sports stadium, where Ghana thumped them 5-0.
