Ashantigold SC have failed in their quest to advance to the Group Stage of the 2019/2020 CAF Confederation Cup after losing 2-0 to Moroccan side RS Berkane on Saturday night.
The miners beat their Moroccan opponents 3-2 two weeks ago in Obuasi.
But RS Berkane will now go away with a 4-3 aggregate scoreline and advance to the group stage of the competition.
Berkane were handed a massive boast after just seven minutes into the game after AshantiGold defender Musah Mohammed- the centre back picked up a straight red card.
The hosts who had a numerical advantage broke the deadlock on the 32nd minute through Burkinabe Issoufou Dayo with overhead kick from inside the box.
Zaid Krouch however, doubled the hosts’ lead from outside the box on the stroke to recess.
The Ghanaian side, looked very purposeful back from break but failed to put the ball at the back of the net.
Goalkeeper Frank Boateng nonetheless, pulled two fantastic saves to deny the Berkane from scoring more goals as the game ended 2-0 in favour of the hosts.
