Some Social media users have tried to give a political meaning to a gesture made by an Asante Kotoko player as a support for the National Democratic Congress Presidential candidate H.E John Dramani Mahama ahead of the December 7th polls.
Asante Kotoko were returning to Ghana following a CAF Champions League qualification tie against FC Nouadhibou of Mauritania (1-1) last Sunday and one of the Kotoko players was spotted at the airport making the two-finger gesture.
The two-finger salute is a normal gestures people normally make and it has different meanings depending on the circumstance but in Ghana, ahead of the 7th December elections, the V-sign or the two-finger sign is translated to mean a support for John Mahama, the NDC candidate.
Incumbent President of the land H.E Nana Akufo-Addo takes the first place on the ballot paper whilst H.E John Dramani Mahama occupies the number two position.
However as a matter of fact it cannot be said that the V-sign made by the Kotoko player represent a political message.
