The skipper of the Black Queens, Elizabeth Addo believes God will be deciding factor in selecting the person that will be crowned as the best Women’s footballer on the continent.
The Swedish based forward was nominated for the prestigious award alongside Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala, Gabrielle Abouni Onguene and Raissa Tchuanyo of Cameroon and Janine Van Wyk of South Africa.
In an interview with Takoradi based Spice FM, the Black Queens forward averred that she received the news of her nomination with an elated heart but believes God will decide who the winner is.
If things change we would win the AFCON in 2018. We have a knack of retiring players prematurely. Once you get to 25, they call for you to retire starts and that’s our bane. Nigeria and Cameroon rely on experience that why they perform well but the situation is different in our case. Our team is bereft of experience. We need to find ways of integrating the young ones without necessarily retiring the old folks.
“I was happy when news of my nomination reached me. It’s grace that has brought me this far. All the nominees are good players that’s why they were selected. We all stand a chance of winning the award but I believe God has already chosen the winner. With God on my side, I am confident of coming to Ghana with the award”
The winner of the award will be announced at the Glo-CAF awards gala scheduled for January 5th next in Abuja. Ghanaians will be hoping that Addo who netted 3 goals at the Africa Women’s championship will win the enviable accolade
