Former Newcastle United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop has urged Arsenal to make a quick move for Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey in the Summer transfer.
Hislop, who works as ESPN Sports pundit, believes the Atletico Madrid star will fit in perfectly for Arsenal, who have struggled to find a consistent performer in their defensive midfield role.
Uruguayan Lucas Toreira has been a pale shadow of himself this season and Dani Ceballos could leave at the end of his loan spell this summer.
Hislop watched Thomas Partey dominate the Liverpool midfielder in the Rojiblancos outstanding performance at Anfield to eliminate Liverpool from the champions League.
“Thomas Partey has been outstanding for the last two years at the very least,” Hislop told ESPN.
“If you’re Arsenal and you can somehow prise Partey away from Atletico Madrid, absolutely you do it all day every day.
“He sits in front of the back four, I’m still not sure that there are many better box-to-box midfielders in the game. If you get this done, do it now, do it quick.”
Thomas Partey has made 32 appearances fro Atletico Madrid this season, netting three goals for the club.
