Ghana wonderkid Gideon Mensah says his ultimate aim presently is to get promotion to Red Bull Salzburg senior team after winning the 2017 UEFA Youth League in Nyon, Switzerland on Monday.
The former WAFA left back helped Red Bull Salzburg to beat Benfica 2-1 on Monday to win the 2017 UEFA Youth League.
The UEFA Youth League is the version of the UEFA Champions League for the youth sides of European clubs and for Mensah and Red Bull Salzburg, they faced the likes of Manchester City, PSG and Atletico Madrid on their way to the final.
Mensah who lasted the entire duration of the match as the Austrian side rallied to upset the Portuguese side in an exclusive interview with sportsworldghana.com expressed his delight to be part of Red Bull Salzburg ”history”
”It’s good feeling to be part of this team and to be part of the history” Said Gideon Mensah.
”Winning the trophy means a lot to me , I’m so proud of myself, so happy of myself because this is not the first time Red Bull Salzburg is playing this youth champions league but including me this season we beat a lot of teams and went to the finals to win the trophy.”
An elated Mensah added ”Yes I want to move forward in my career I want to go to great heights and play for good teams and big clubs since that is what every players wants to achieve in football journey but for now I am with Red Bull Salzburg junior team and want to get promotion to the senior side then take it from there”.
Mensah 18, joined Red Bull Salzburg last year from current Ghana Premier League leaders WAFA SC.
