German-born Ghanaian defender, Gideon Jung has been released by German Bundesliga 2 Hamburger SV after seven years at the club.
The 26-year-old defensive all-rounder came to Hamburg from Oberhausen in 2014, has since experienced a steep rise to the U-21 European champion in 2017, but after relegation and a cartilage damage in the year after, did not regain his old form.
A change was already suggested to Jung last summer, and on Wednesday the farewell was completed including a severance payment in the mid six-digit range.
The Ghanaian defender played 19 times during the 2020-21 Bundesliga season for the former Bundesliga side but failed to reach agreement with the Blue and Whites leading to his departure.
