The Black Stars of Ghana failed to shine at home in their first match of the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifying tournament as The Cranes of Uganda proved a tougher opposition in Tamale.
The game ended in a frustrating goalless draw for Avram Grant’s side as the Stars failed to produce a high level performance in Tamale.

Black Stars starting line up vs Uganda
GK Razak Braimah, RB Harisson Affu, LB Baba Rahman, CB John Boye, CB Daniel Amartey, CM Wakaso Mubarak, CM Afriyie Acquah, RW Christian Atsu, LW Frank Acheampong, FW Jordan Ayew, FW Asamoah Gyan.
Asamoah Gyan
The captain had a poor game as the Ugandan defence excelled in marking him out of the game. He was supposed to make the difference as the nations leading goalscorer but Gyan drew blank and his overall performance was nothing to write home about.
Jordan Ayew
The best chance of Ghana fell to this man in the first half but he blasted wide . Jordan was at the end of Harrison Afful’s clever cross from the right and the Aston Villa striker who was unmarked managed to still miss that glorious opportunity.
Baba Rahman
It is fair to say arguably Rahman played his poorest game ever for the Black Stars. The defender lost concentration at the left back role. Anytime Uganda attacked game it was through the left side as Farouk Miya was intelligent to figure out the weakest link in the Ghanaian team and that was Rahman’s left back position. He was that bad on the day
