Ghana Football Association Executive Council member Nana Oduro Sarfo, says the country’s football governing body has nothing to do with the salary arrears of Black stars gaffer Charles Kwablan Akonnor.
Akonnor, 47, has not been paid for the last 10 months despite securing qualification for the Black Stars to play at the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon next year.
However, reacting to the worrying issue, the ace football administrator says the former Asante Kotoko coach has a contract with the sports ministry, not the Football Association
“GFA has nothing to do with C.K Akonnor’s salary. We (GFA) cannot push for his salary because he (C.K) has a contract with the [Sports] Ministry. Sarfo told OTEC FM.
“It will be a misplaced priority to say that the FA has not paid him (C.K)” He added
CK is expected to qualify Ghana to 2022 FIFA World cup in Qatar and win the 2021 AFCON early next year in Cameroon.
